FEMIB Study tour to Austria a complete success

European wood window manufacturers meet in Graz

FRANKFURT AM MAIN, 24. September 2009. FEMIB – the Federation of the European Building Joinery Associations – successfully organised a study tour to Austria in September, where the 31 European participants got a good impression of the Austrian wood industry and were able to establish especially European contacts. The promotion of European cooperation is an important task of FEMIB and leads to a strengthening of the sector in all European affairs.

From 8. – 11. September, starting from Graz the Internorm factory in Lannach for the production of wood-aluminum windows and the Stabil factory in Gabersdorf for the production of windows and doors of different frame materials were visited, amongst others followed by the Haas Group in Großwilfersdorf with the local factory for prefabricated houses and the Gaulhofer window factory in Übelbach.

In a meeting with the Association of the Austrian wood industry, the participants received information on the local market, along with data from several European markets which were then discussed. A guided tour through the UNESCO World Heritage of the Old town of Graz, and not least the pleasure of Austrian cuisine completed the program. After 4 sunny days it was time to say good-bye to Styria.

FEMIB represents at European level with its member organizations important markets in the building joinery industry. One of the main tasks of the association are lobbying activities with the members of the European Parliament, the European Commission and the European standardization. Common positions are the basis of successful influence. As a cooperation partner of EuroWindoor FEMIB is part of a European network, which represents more than 50,000 companies with around one million employees. This ensures that the position of building joinery is taken into account at European level. Further details on FEMIB can be found on the Internet at www.femib.org
